Peter Kenneth Godfrey Mason, aged 79, passed away in Collingwood on April 30th, 2024, surrounded by his family.
Peter is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years Irene and their children Heather (Thomas), David (Chelsea), Andrew (Lisa), and Tom (Lisa) and his grandchildren Magnus, Isla and Barclay and his brother Brian (Susan) in England.
Peter was born on October 16th, 1944 to Sydney and Dorothy Mason in Leeds, England. In 1969 Peter emigrated to Canada, settling in Toronto where he joined the Toronto Scottish Rugby Football Club.
Peter loved cricket, rugby and running. His love, dedication and skill for rugby earned him a spot on the Canadian National team in 1974. Peter also loved his work in construction before his retirement in 2013. His work took him across Canada, as well as UK, Iran and Bermuda.
Peter was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law and uncle. He was a caring and encouraging friend, teammate, colleague and coach. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
The family would like to thank the infinitely kind, caring and compassionate team at Sunset Manor for their commitment to Peter’s care over the last year.
A celebration of life will be held at the Bear Estate, 300 Balsam Street, Collingwood at 2:00 pm., Saturday May 4th. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society of Simcoe County would be greatly appreciated.
