Grey County cyclist victim in Highway 63 fatality

The victim of Sunday's tragic car and bicycle accident on Highway 63 was a Nipissing University student-athlete.  

The University made the announcement about the Lakers nordic skier through social media today. 

"This past weekend, Shelby Dickey, a student and part of our Lakers community for a number of years, passed away in a tragic cycling accident," the Nipissing University Lakers Facebook post stated. 

"She recently completed her undergraduate degree and was to defend her Master's thesis. Our deepest condolences go to all who knew her." 

Dickey was a resident of Grey County, Ontario.

The accident happened on Sunday, September 1, at 9:10 a.m.

The OPP stated that Dickey was brought to a hospital by ambulance, where she was pronounced deceased.   

There were no injuries to the driver of the car.
