Passed away peacefully on Friday, April 26, 2024 at the age of 82. He was born on April 12th, 1942 in Windsor, Ontario to George and Eileen Nixon.

He is survived by his beloved wife Naoko of 21 years, sister Patti, and 3 nieces and nephews Heather, Micheal (Hayley, Willa) and Ryan.

Known by many as ‘Farmer Doug ' he lived for the past 40 years on his 100 acre farm in Rob Roy, Ontario where he hosted guests from around the world to come stay, play and enjoy his beautiful farm. From dogsledding to outdoor festivals and events, Doug was an entrepreneur at heart and loved to bring people together in nature.

Prior to moving to the farm, Doug lived and worked for many years in Toronto and was an active member of the vibrant community of Kensington Market where he formed many life-long friendships with artists, musicians and people from all walks of life.

Doug was a huge lover of music and many people will remember his annual solstice barn party. He was also an avid traveller who loved travelling abroad, meeting new people and learning about new cultures.

When asked for words of wisdom in his last few months he replied “Keep Smiling” which wonderfully sums up the positive attitude and love for life Doug had and will leave with us all.

There will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your local food bank. To sign Doug’s Book of Memories, please visit www.carruthersdavidson.com
