A newly formed philanthropic foundation, created with a connection to Craigleith Ski Club, is offering grants to local charities that apply by Sept. 30.

Called Craigleith Cares, the foundation was created by Craigleith Ski Club members Drew Abbott and Deborah Tennant in 2022 as an incorporated, CRA-approved charity with support and collaboration from the ski club.

In the first year of operation, Craigleith Cares raised over $120,000 and used that money to give a $12,500 grant to Ontario Track 3 Adaptive Sport Association and $25,000 to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital Foundation.

The charity will give out more grants in October to charities that apply by Sept. 30.

Eligible charities will be operating in one of three areas, including health and wellness, community betterment, and healthy development through sports and athletics.

CRA approved local charities wishing to apply for a grant should contact [email protected] and visit www.craigleithcares.org to view the grant application form.
