It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Shirley Joyce Manuel, age 89 of Collingwood (formerly Corner Brook, NL), with family by her side. Shirley was predeceased by Kent, her beloved husband of 57 years. The proud mother of Ramona Van Slyke (Rick), Wanda Stratton (Brian), Jean Black (Gary), Keith (Lynda) and Wade (Amanda). Shirley was a beloved nan, cherished by Terri, Madison (Moritz), Pamela (Neil), Megan, Ian (Steph), Karen, Adam, Erinn, Gregory, Sean, Anna and great-grandmother to Torfinn and Hennes. A proud Newfoundlander, Shirley Noseworthy, daughter of Rendall and Jessie grew up in a large, loving family spending the majority of her life in Corner Brook. Moving to Ontario to be close to her family in recent years. She had a great sense of humour and enjoyed a good game of cards. Very active in her community as a member of UCW in both Corner Brook and Collingwood, Shirley also enjoyed fishing, bowling and loved spending time with her family. She was an active resident of Bay Haven Retirement Home, serving as goodwill ambassador to new and prospective residents. You could always find her participating in activities around the home. Her love of life, laughter and joy lives on in her family.
Thank you to the staff and volunteers of Bay Haven who made her time living there enjoyable. She was often heard saying she couldn't have been living in a greater place. Thank you as well to staff and volunteers of Campbell House for seeing her through this, her final phase of life. There will be no service at this time, a celebration of life will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to Trinity United Church, Collingwood, Humber United Church, Corner Brook or the Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation.
