Update 5 p.m.: The Grey Bruce Health Unit confirmed a new case of COVID-19 in The Blue Mountains today.

There have been no cases of COVID-19 reported in Collingwood since May 19. All 15 cases confirmed in Collingwood residents are now reported recovered.

There are now 40 active cases of the coronavirus in all of Simcoe County, including one in Wasaga Beach, but none in Clearview.

In The Blue Mountains, there have been five cases confirmed and a total of 99 cases in Grey Bruce Health Unit. There are three cases still active in the entire Grey Bruce region. The last case was reported in The Blue Mountains on May 13.

Collingwood restaurants can open their patios today, but restrictions in place from both the town and the province/public health have some restaurant owners taking it slow and not opening yet. Patios that were open last year can open within the same footprint this year, but any changes have to be run by the town and will be subject to a council vote on June 22.

Neither the Town of Collingwood, nor the YMCA will be opening their pools this weekend. Though town staff are working towards opening, there is still background work, inspections and training to be done before Centennial Aquatic Centre can reopen.

Blue Mountain Resort has opened more summer attractions as of today, but the resort will be capping guests with a daily capacity. Those who arrive after the capacity is reached will be asked to visit another day.

Premier Doug Ford announced today people could expand their social circles beyond their household (to a maximum of ten people including your household). Members of a social circle can have close contact with each other.

Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit's, medical officer of health, Dr. Charles Gardner, has said in the past he’d like to see the province allowing people to expand their social bubbles to outside their households, so long as the bubble was exclusive and people didn’t have more than one bubble.

“It’s not just about 10 people gathered publicly,” said the medical officer of health for Simcoe-Muskoka region, “It’s about how many and which people in your life that you can hug. I think that’s a critical need we all have.”
