The health unit announced today Collingwood's lone active COVID-19 case is now considered recovered.

The case was reported by the health unit on July 20, and was Collingwood's 16th case. There are no more active, lab-confirmed cases reported in Collingwood residents.

However, Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit's medical officer of health Dr. Charles Gardner noted yesterday surveillance of coronavirus and other similar diseases only captures the tip of the iceberg. He estimates testing and tracking only captures about ten per cent of the actual COVID-19 cases.

The health unit has reported nine new cases this week, six on Monday and three today. Gardner noted the region is seeing a trend similar to the province with a higher infection rate in the south end of the region and low rates the further north a municipality is in Simcoe-Muskoka.

Ontario reported 76 new COVID-19 cases today. It's the first time since mid-March the number of new cases reported in a single day has dipped below 100.

Toronto and Peel Region will enter Stage 3 of the provincial reopening plan on Friday.

Premier Doug Ford announced further details on the independent commission into the long-term care system and its response to COVID-19. The commissioner of the Collingwood Judicial Inquiry, Associate Chief Justice Frank Marrocco, will be chair of the province's commission

Marrocco stated he is still committed to the completion of the Collingwood inquiry and plans on delivering his recommendations and report before October 31.

Transit fees have been reinstated for Collingwood Transit, and the town will resume parking fees for all municipal lots and downtown street parking as of next week.

For Labour Day weekend, the town is also testing out a paid parking pilot program at Sunset Point and Princeton Shores.

Little River Park and beach in Thornbury has reopened to the public now that crews have completed remediation and repairs to the shoreline. Thornbury Pier remains closed and will not reopen until 2021.

In The Blue Mountains, the total case count for the municipality has remained at five since May. All cases in The Blue Mountains are now reported recovered.

In Wasaga Beach, the last case was reported on June 19. Fourteen Wasaga cases have been reported recovered and one person has died.

In Clearview Township, the last case was reported on July 27, and seven of nine cases have recovered. One person has died.
