The Grey Bruce Health Unit has confirmed one staff member employed at Errinrung Long-Term Care Home in Thornbury has tested positive for COVID-19.

As such, the health unit declared a COVID outbreak at the home.

The province requires an outbreak be declared at a long-term care home where one staff or resident tests positive for COVID-19.

According to a news release from the health unit, case and contact managers have already been in touch with the staff member who tested positive and are working to identify other close contacts in and out of the work environment.

The health unit has stressed only those who are deemed high-risk close contacts will be contacted by the health unit and advised to self-isolate and seek testing if symptoms develop.

Those at risk of infection will be contacted within 24 hours of the investigation, stated the health unit in the news release.
