Health unit reports 33 new COVID cases in Simcoe-Muskoka today

There are 33 new COVID-19 cases being reported by the health unit in Simcoe County today, with one new case in Collingwood.

The Collingwood case is reported as a 45- to 64-year-old man, with the source of transmission listed as travel.

There are two Clearview Township cases today: two 45- to 64-year-old men. One is listed as source under investigation while the other is listed as community acquired.

One case has been reported in Wasaga Beach, in an 18- to 34-year-old man with the source listed as under investigation.

Barrie has 10 new cases in today's update: one male youth between infancy and 17 with the source listed as under investigation. One 18 to 34-year-old woman is listed with the source under investigation, and one 18- to 34-year-old man with the source listed as congregate setting outbreak. A 35- to 44-year-old woman is listed with source as close contact, which a 35- to 44-year-old man is listed with the source under investigation. Three 45- to 64-year-old women are listed with the sources under investigation. A 45- to 64-year old man is listed as a close contact, and one case in a woman aged 65 to 79 is listed with source under investigation.

There are three new Bradford cases today: a 35- to 44-year-old woman, a 45- to 64-year-old man and a 65- to 79-year-old man. All three sources of transmission are listed as under investigation.

In Essa Township, there is one new case today, an 18- to 34-year-old woman with source listed as close contact.

There is one case listed in Gravenhurst, a woman between 65 and 79 years old. The source for that case is listed as under investigation.

There are two new Innisfil cases today. An 18- to 34-year-old woman is listed with source as under investigation. A 45- to 64-year old man is listed as part of an out-of-jurisdiction workplace outbreak.

In Midland, there are two new cases today: two women between 65 and 79 years old. One is listed as source under investigation, the other is listed as close contact.

In New Tecumseth, there are five new cases today. a male youth between infancy and 17, an 18- to 34-year-old man, a 35- to 44-year-old woman, a 45- to 64-year-old woman and a 45- to 64-year-old man. All five cases are listed with source under investigation.

Springwater Township has four new cases today: a male youth between infancy and 17, an 18- to 34-year-old woman, a 35- to 44-year-old woman and a 45- to 64-year-old man. All sources are listed as under investigation.

One case has been reported in Tiny Township in a 65- to 79-year-old woman, with the source listed as under investigation.

Two cases previously assigned to Innisfil and one case previously assigned to Adjala-Tosorontio were removed today as they were re-assigned to a different public health unit    

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 2,248 COVID cases, with 2,151 of those in Simcoe County. There are 1,924 cases listed as recovered in the region. Eleven people are currently hospitalized. All are Simcoe County residents. The health unit has confirmed 52 deaths since March.

The incidence rate for Simcoe County is 407 cases per 100,000 people.
