Two Clearview residents among 19 new COVID cases in Simcoe today

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has confirmed 19 new COVID-19 cases in Simcoe County today. 

Two Clearview residents are among today's cases, including a man and a woman between 18 and 34 years old whose transmission is linked to close contact. There were two Clearview cases reported yesterday as well, one of those (a man between 18 and 34 years old) has been linked to an institutional outbreak that is outside of the Simcoe-Muskoka region. 

There are two new cases reported in Barrie today including a woman between 18 and 34 years old whose transmission is linked to close contact and a man between 35 and 44 years old whose transmission is under investigation. 

New Tecumseth had the most cases in today's report with seven individuals included in the list. Among the seven cases are one woman and one man between 18 and 34 years old, a man and a woman between 35 and 44 years old, a man and a woman between 45 and 64 years old and a woman between 65 and 79 years old whose case is linked to close contact. The transmission for five of the cases is still under investigation, but the case involving the woman between 45 and 64 years old has been linked to a workplace outbreak. 

There are five new cases in Innisfil and two are community-acquired (man and woman between 35 and 44 years old). The other three cases are still under investigation and they involved three women, two are between 18 and 34 years old and one is between 35 and 44 years old. 

There are two new cases – one man and one woman – in Bradford both are under investigation and both are between 18 and 34 years old.

The final case reported today is a man between 35 and 44 years old who is from Springwater. His case is still under investigation. 

While the cases reported today appear to be self-isolating and recovering at home, the health unit has also reported one new hospitalization in Midland. The only case reported in Midland since July was a man between 65 and 79 years old whose case was reported yesterday and is linked to community transmission. 

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit has reported a total of 1,305 cases of COVID-19, with 1,228 of those in Simcoe County. There are 1,089 cases listed as recovered. Five people are currently hospitalized. The health unit has recorded 49 deaths. 

The incidence rate for Simcoe County is 229 cases per 100,000 people.
