CollingwoodToday welcomes letters to the editor at [email protected] or via the website. Please include your full name, daytime phone number and address (for verification of authorship, not publication). The following letter was submimtted by Hope Chapel after a successful call-out earlier this year letting the community know the school lunch program wouldn't be able to continue without financial support next year.

Hope Chapel would like to express our deep gratitude to CollingwoodToday for sharing our story and to our wider community who have come alongside in support of our church.

Your support will allow us to continue to serve Collingwood and beyond as a centre of community care by opening our doors to our area high school students every school day during their lunch hour, providing items to individuals and families in need through our supplemental Community Cupboard and Giving Tree, as well as sharing our space with other like-minded nonprofits.

As some in our community are aware, at the end of this past school year Hope Chapel's ability to commit to the next school year was still in limbo. We had asked God to show us definitively whether we were to continue serving as we have been (or not) and set a goal to raise $60,000 by mid-summer. Well, we have His answer ... We are a go!

With the help of our wider community, Hope Chapel was able to raise $57,000 plus an additional pledge of $6,000 to date, so we can now confirm our ability to continue serving our students and the community for another year.  Thank you to everyone for your contributions: including financial, spreading the word, and your prayers.

We are still in need of additional individual/corporate sponsors for future sustainability and would love to speak with anyone who may be interested and/or wanting more information.

Gratefully yours,
Pastor Jane
