Accused fraudster, Alison Glussich, turned herself in to Collingwood OPP this morning.

She is facing both a criminal charge and a civil case against her for fraud over $5,000, for defrauding Collingwood business owner Jenny Mai.

Mai’s story was featured in a CollingwoodToday article last year, and in a recent update noting the court order for Glussich to pay back the money she took from Mai had not been fulfilled.

On Tuesday, Glussich’s lawyer Mitchell Worsoff said she was released that afternoon on bail with no special conditions. She returns to court on Feb. 25 to face criminal charges.

“We’re back on track and we’re going to see if we can resolve this matter,” said Worsoff.

Promising discount airplane tickets for her friends, Glussich allegedly took money in advance and didn't produce tickets or a refund.

In addition to Mai, two other former friends of Glussich – Liane Ellis and Lucy Lehman – also came forward following Mai speaking publicly on her experiences chasing Glussich through the court system to try to get her money back.

Mai was owed nearly $30,000. Ellis was owed nearly $50,000, while Lehman was owed nearly $7,000. Some repayments were made either by Alison or her husband, however all three say they have not been fully paid back.

If you believe you’ve been the victim of a fraud, it should be reported to police and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre through their website here.
