Collingwood's only taxi company, Ace Cabs, announced they will be parking their cabs permanently after 80 years in business.

The company announced in a news release and "with sadness" the closure of the business.

"Ace Cabs has been faced with a number of challenges in recent times including Uber,  the Collingwood transit system extending its routes and operating times and recently going to an on-demand service, and COVID-19 which has resulted in continued losses making the business not sustainable," states the news release.

The accessible taxi service will continue, however. Ace Transportation Group, a sister company to Ace Cabs, will continue running accessible fares in-town as per its contract with the Town of Collingwood.

There will also be out-of-town fares through Ace Transportation Group. These will only be available by pre-booking a minimum of two days in advance.

Same-day out-of-town fares will be accommodated based on driver availability.

Ace Transportation Group will continue to provide wine and beer tours, custom charters, corporate events, weddings and airport transportation with a fleet of executive buses and cars.

"Ace would like to thank the residents of Collingwood and the surrounding Georgian Bay area for your support over the years," states the news release.
