Collingwood-based artist Anke Lex stepped out of her usual medium for her latest art exhibit, which visits places with great, and joyful, impact on her life.
Lex, who often works with ceramic elements, created her latest exhibit, Places of the Heart, with encaustic photography and mixed media. This is her first exhibit without any ceramic elements.
"Places, just like people, can change the way you feel and look at things," explained Lex in an email. "The impact and love for such a place stays with you, one carries it inside, it defines who you have become. Returning to such places can be a joy of deep connection."
The exhibit is on now through Oct. 30 at The Tremont (80 Simcoe St.).
Lex has also written the following poem as an accompaniment to her exhibit:
Places of the Heart
If I never return; you have shaped me
It will reflect in the way I dress
The way I speak
The way I think
The way I look at new places
If I return; you will hold me
wrap me so tight and gently
You will not ask
Why did you go?
Where have you been?
No blame
Because I was always there
