The class of ’21 may not get the ceremonies and celebrations they were hoping for but Blue Mountain Resort is offering a mountaintop experience to mark their milestone achievement. Students graduating this year are invited to go to bluemountain.ca to sign up for a free open-air gondola ride up to the top of Blue Mountain where a professional photographer will snap the most uplifting photo they could have asked for.
“This is our second year holding the Gradola event,” says Tara Lovell, manager, public relations for Blue Mountain Resort. “We did not plan to have another Gradola after 2020 but it looks like we have a little while longer before we see the ceremonies and parties students and families would typically hold at this time of year. Hopefully, our Gradola 2021 helps make the end of the school year special for students who have had a pretty challenging past few months.”
Blue has a limited number of spots available on Thursday, June 17 for grads and their families.
Graduating students are invited to register online and arrive in their graduation day best for a professional photo from the gondola with Southern Georgian Bay as their backdrop. Adapted operations are in place at the resort and guests are reminded that a time slot must be booked in advance online and that masks are required to load and unload the Gondola.

Blue Mountain Resort Gradola Event
- When: Thursday, June 17 (rain or shine); Time slots are available between 2 p.m. and 6 p.m.
- Who: All 2021 graduates from preschool to post-secondary
- Where: Blue Mountain Resort, open-air gondola
- What: Graduates must register for their time slot online
- Grads can have up to seven guests in their gondola car
- Arrive at the base of the gondola no earlier than five minutes before the scheduled time slot
Grads are encouraged to dress for their free professional photo but remember masks are required for loading and unloading the Gondola
All participants receive a free Gondola ride, professional grad photo and 40 per cent off* food and beverage purchases at the 6ix Pak take out window. (Conditions apply.)
