As the Town of Collingwood seeks input into its official plan for growth, The Blue Mountain Watershed Trust is hosting their own discussion about development in the Collingwood area.

The environmental charity is hosting a live webinar on Dec. 1 entitled "What does development in Collingwood/Blue Mountains mean to you?"

The watershed trust notes the area population could increase by 50 per cent in the next ten years, and is encouraging others to ask how they can help protect the area's sensitive and remaining wild areas.

"How do we preserve the character of the place we all love," states a news release from the Blue Mountain Watershed Trust.

The webinar will include discussions around how planning works at a municipal and provincial level, what's in store for the next ten years, examples of ecologically acceptable vs. detrimental development, and what residents can do to influence development in their area.

The webinar will run at 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. It is open for anyone, but registration is required online.
