CAO tops list of 42 Collingwood employees on Sunshine List

The list of town employees making $100,000 or more a year includes senior staff, managers, and firefighters.

The Town of Collingwood has 42 employees on the Sunshine List for 2018.

The list is a public disclosure of all public sector employees receiving a salary of $100,000 or more.

The top earner at town hall is Collingwood’s chief administrative officer Fareed Amin, whose salary in 2018 was $220,084.21 with $1,811.96 in taxable benefits.

The list this year for Collingwood is 11 people more than in 2017.

The town’s senior staff including Clerk Sara Almas; Director of Parks, Recreation, and Culture Dean Collver; Director of Planning and Building Services Nancy Farrer; Treasurer Marjory Leonard; Director of Public Works and Engineering Brian MacDonald; and Fire Chief Ross Par were also on the list with salaries in the $140,000 range.

Martin Rydlo, director of marketing and business development made $130,739 last year, and Fire Prevention Officer Robert Bolt, Captain W. Shawn Denbok, Captain Stephen Emp, Captain Jeffrey Kohut, Captain Ryan Martin, Parks Manager Wendy Martin, Deputy Fire Chief Dan Thurman, Public Works Supervisor Craig Wensley, Capital and Financial Planning Manager Dennis Sloan, and Environmental Services Manager Peggy Slama all received salaries between $119,000 and $133,000 in 2018.

The rest of the town employees on the list include firefighters and department managers.

The Sunshine List was first published in 1996, and the threshold for making the list has not changed since then. All agencies that receive public funding are required by provincial law (Ontario Public Sector Salary Disclosure Act) to disclose the salaries of each employee paid $100,000 or more in a calendar year.
