There will be a new warming centre in the area starting Monday.
Faith Missionary Church, in partnership with the County of Simcoe and the Town of Wasaga Beach, will be open on Monday, Jan. 13 from 8:30 p.m. to 8:30 a.m. on any night when temperatures are expected to fall below -10 Celcius.
In addition to having a place to go during cold nights, the people who access the warming centre will be given access to supports to help them find shelter, housing, healthcare and other services.
Faith Missionary Church is responsible for providing the shelter and food. The Town of Wasaga Beach is donating cots and bedding as well as rides on local public transit, and the County of Simcoe will be funding operating costs.
