At the June 8 Clearview Council meeting, council supported the recommendation made by staff, in consultation with Clearview’s community hall boards, to cancel the 2020 Small Halls Festival due to the on-going COVID-19 Pandemic.
Clearview staff, community hall boards and community partners of the festival were in communication throughout the emergency and met virtually on May 15 to discuss different options, deciding to cancel due to public health concerns.
Originally scheduled for Oct. 1 – 4, 2020, the festival plans to welcome visitors back in 2021.
“Our brand promise is to produce an award-winning festival that showcases the very best of the small halls in Clearview Township and as the pandemic is still ongoing and given the uncertainty about mass gatherings we do need to cancel. This was a difficult decision to make, but it is the right one for the health and wellbeing of volunteers and guests,” said Amanda Murray, community culture and tourism coordinator.
As disappointing as it is to have to cancel the Small Halls Festival this year, we look forward to working with our hall boards, community partners and sponsors to welcome visitors in 2021.
