Collingwood's Junior 'A' hockey team has had their best season yet, scoring through the playoffs to win all three rounds and a spot in the Ontario Junior Hockey League championship series.
The Collingwood Blues will face off against the Trenton Golden Hawks in the series, both with the goal of winning the series' Frank R. Buckland Cup and a chance to play for the Centennial Cup in Portage la Prarie.
Heading into playoffs as the second-highest seeded team, the Blues won their three playoff series, beating Stouffville Spirit, Milton Menace in four games each, and then the Burlington Cougars in five games. They entered the North-West Conference playoff series with 89 points, having won 44 of their 54 games.
According to reporting posted to the Ontario Junior Hockey League website, Trenton was ranked seventh overall heading into the South-East conference. The two teams met once in the regular season and the Blues took the victory with an overtime goal.
Game one of the Buckland Cup championship series takes place Thursday, April 20 at the Eddie Bush Memorial Arena at 7 p.m.
According to the Blues' Twitter, a full schedule and ticket links will be posted soon.
