Celebrate where we live, the land we enjoy, and the people around us during On the Land We Love, a month-long celebration honouring World Environment Day June 5, National Indigenous Peoples Day June 21, Canadian Multiculturalism Day June 27, and Canada Day July 1.

The Town of Collingwood and Collingwood Downtown want to help you discover ways to celebrate On the Land We Love by offering a variety of programs and opportunities that encourage us all to demonstrate our love for our community, its natural beauty, and our diversity through cultural and musical expression.

Beginning June 5 and running through to July 1, you can learn from, participate in, listen to and enjoy experiences that allow you to embrace your interests or to find new, exciting ones that you have longed to try. With guided birding or forest therapy walks, gardening tips, a lacrosse workshop, live music, exhibits, a photo scavenger hunt, a StoryWalk, and so much more, there is something for everyone, and all ages.

In honour of National Indigenous Peoples Day, you can learn about the summer solstice with a change-of-seasons ceremony, discover the meaning of the Inuksuk, experience a sweat lodge, and listen to Juno Award-winning band Digging Roots on June 21.

On June 25, come out to celebrate with Pollinate Collingwood and learn more about the importance of protecting our pollinators in honour of Pollinator Week.

If your preference is indoor activities, we’ve got you covered. Visit the museum to see the travelling exhibit from the Royal Botanical Gardens, A Place to Grow, complemented by our museum’s own exhibit, Going to Seed.

Join in the celebrations and festivities on July 1 with a pancake breakfast, a giant Canadian flag birthday cake, a citizenship reaffirmation ceremony and, of course, fireworks at 10 p.m. to top off the day.

Raise your awareness, feed your imagination, and join us June 5 through July 1 to experience everything that On the Land We Love offers. It’s not just a Collingwood event; it’s a gathering of cultures; it’s our Canadian experience. Be part of it.

On the Land We Love is presented by the Town of Collingwood in partnership with Collingwood Downtown, Collingwood Unity Collective, Fram+Slokker, Collingwood Quay Condos, Theatre Collingwood, and Pollinate Collingwood.
