NEWS RELEASE
TOWN OF COLLINGWOOD
*************************

Winter, it’s a season that brings chilly temperatures, snow days, blankets of white on the ground, and a renewed longing for warm beverages and comfort food. Winter, in all its glory, is a form of art.

The Town of Collingwood wants to help you discover ways to celebrate the Art of Winter by offering a variety of programs and opportunities that encourage us all to demonstrate our love for winter through artistic expression.

Beginning on Family Day, Feb. 21 through to Feb. 27, we encourage you to bundle up and join us for some great outdoor activities that include play, sport, snow art, visual art, history and more.

If your preference is indoor activities, we’ve got you covered! Try on sledging, or an art workshop. If you love the great outdoors, then try some figure skating or just a public skate. Pre-registration is required but participation is free. Create, participate, and find some joy getting active.

Try creating snow people using our pail and your imagination, or just engage in some fun at our winter active play station. Maybe try a guided trail hike for those who enjoy snowshoeing, Nordic pole walking, and outdoor wildlife photography, or experience Forest Therapy.

Community involvement is also encouraged by being part of our Snowflake Project. We can provide the template for you to colour, draw or decorate in your own unique way or if you are super creative, cut out your own snowflake design and decorate it, paint it or bling it up. Bring your finished masterpiece to the Collingwood Museum where it will be put on display.

The museum will also be distributing pine cone bird feeder activity kits on Family Day at Central Park while supplies last and will be open for self-guided tours (pre-bookings recommended) from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the new Launch Day exhibit and participate in the Snowflake Project.

A full detailed schedule will be available soon. Visit our website at www.collingwood.ca/artofwinter for more information.

Raise your awareness, feed your imagination, and join us Feb. 21 through Feb. 27 to experience the Art of Winter. It’s not just a Collingwood event, it’s a Canadian experience, it’s an Art form.

A winter wonderland awaits! Be part of it.
