The Collingwood Fire Department was called to a Raglan Street home this evening when a light fixture caught fire on the second floor.

At the time of the call, residents reported seeing smoke on the second floor. The people living in the home used an extinguisher to try to put the fire out and Collingwood firefighters used a second extinguisher before the fire appeared to be out.

Collingwood Fire Chief Ross Parr said the fire department was waiting for the landlord to bring in an electrician to check the home's safety.

Parr said he didn't know yet if the tenants would be displaced tonight due to the fire.

The public is asked to avoid the area of Raglan and Ontario Street as there are fire crews and an ambulance blocking both lanes.
