Collingwood Music Festival founder and artistic director Daniel Vnukowski is joined by Collingwood town crier Ken Templeman MP Terry Dowdall, MPP Brian Saunderson, and members of Collingwood council at the official flag raising marking the opening of the fifth-annual festival.
The Collingwood Music Festival is keyed up for its fifth summer presenting a week of concerts by 120 musicians who have performed all over the world.

Last evening the artistic director raised the festival flag up the town's community flag pole in front of the library during an opening ceremony. He was joined by the mayor and council, MP Terry Dowdall, and MPP Brian Saunderson.

Artistic director and festival founder Daniel Vnukowski said he's excited for another year of "world-class" performances in the styles of classical, world, jazz and Indigenous music.

Collingwood Music Festival runs July 5-12 beginning with an outdoor show by the Toronto Concert Orchestra at Millennium Park. The Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir will perform at the park on July 6.

Through the week, the "Summer Serenades" will offer story-telling through song, including a "Bach to rock" cello and marimba duo and sing-along show tunes.

"The festival is thrilled to bring a world-premiere performance of “Postcards Lost” to Collingwood this summer, an emotional musical journey that brings to life the poignant love story of a couple that survived the atrocities of the Second World War and communicated via postcards," states a news release from the festival. "These postcards will be displayed alongside a live performance of heart-warming Jewish music."

A generous array of free events includes an engaging new series of workshops titled "Beyond Music", a swinging jazz concert, a whole day of fun “music experience” programming for children and youth, plus two concerts showcasing talented youth from the next generation of musicians.
