From July 5 through 12, the 2024 Collingwood Music Festival brought a vibrant variety of world-class daily concerts and inspiring educational events to the local community. After ward, its artistic director Daniel Vnukowski shared a few reflections about the event:

"The fifth annual festival was a feast for the mind, body and senses and will become the talk of the town for many years to come - a place where memories are made and dreams take flight.

Our “Summer Serenades” began with the spirited energy of the Toronto Concert Orchestra, then the popular Toronto Welsh Male Voice Choir, and included captivating moments of storytelling, swinging jazz in the park, engaging workshops, fun events for youth - and ended with a grand finale filled with our favourite, sing-along show tunes.

We were thrilled to present the world-premiere performance of “Postcards Lost”, an emotional musical journey which brought to life the poignant love story of a couple who survived the atrocities of the Second World War and communicated via postcards. These postcards were displayed alongside a live performance of heart-warming Jewish music and children's poetry.

Legendary storytelling is an essential part of our festival each year. The "Africville" concert which starred iconic vocalist and actor Jackie Richardson and the show's brilliant composer, pianist Joe Sealy, recounted the true story of Africville, Canada’s oldest and once-vibrant Black community. Thomson Highway shared honest tales from his Cree upbringing through his show-stopping cabaret "Songs in the Key of Cree" which Patricia Cano's soulful, expressive vocals illuminated.

"I would like to extend my thanks to our dedicated team, our amazing artists and the unwavering support of our sponsors, donors and our ever-growing audiences."

The Collingwood Music Festival will present some events over the fall and winter months. Sign-up for their e-newsletter for updates at this link: http://www.collingwoodfestival.com/stay-in-touch.
