Over the next two days, Collingwood's playgrounds will be wrapped in fencing to prevent anyone from using them.
The town has already closed its playgrounds and skateboard park, but there have been reports to the town of people continuing to use the facilities.
The town put up fencing around the skateboard park, and will be removing swings and wrapping its 14 playgrounds in snow fencing today and tomorrow. The facilities will remain fenced until the pandemic reaches an end, said Dean Collver, director of parks, recreation and culture for Collingwood.
"It's the responsible thing to do for our residents," said Collver, adding the town continues to follow the advice of public health experts in the region, province, and country.
Collver said the town was receiving reports of youth still using the skate park and potentially in large numbers. Since there was no way to make sure they were still practising physical distancing while on the park, Collver said he and his staff made the decision to put up the fence both for the comfort of the community and to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
The town has also closed down its dog parks, and locked the gates. Ball diamonds will be locked soon.
The town's trail system and green spaces remain open for public use, but anyone using those spaces is urged to practice physical distancing by keeping two-metres apart from other people.
