Members of the Collingwood Curling Club presented $8,400 to three local food banks, the results of the club's annual fundraiser.

Collingwood Curling Club members rocked their annual Christmas fundraiser by throwing over $8,000 into a pot for the local food banks.

For a month a year, club members are encouraged to top-up their bar tabs with a donation to the food bank fundraiser, which has been a tradition since 2018.

This year, the club split the $8,400 in proceeds three ways between the Love Your Neighbour Grocery Hamper Program run by the First Presbyterian Church , The Salvation Army Food Bank and the St Vincent de Paul Food Bank.

"Our sincere thanks to Gene Allevato, Steve Cookson, and the Volunteers at the Collingwood Curling Club for helping facilitate the collection of the donations, and to our members for their donations," stated curling club board member, Caroline Lillico, in an email to CollingwoodToday.

Local food banks are busy during the Christmas season with extra programs running through the holidays to help families in need. Emergency help is also available. You can access help at Salvation Army by calling 705-445-9222. You can access help from St. Vincent de Paul foodbank by calling the helpline at 705-444-0999. You can call First Presbyterian Church at 705-445-4651 for information about the grocery hamper program.
