Collingwood’s deputy mayor is taking a break from council business.

A prepared town statement was read by Mayor Brian Saunderson at the beginning of Monday afternoon’s strategic initiatives standing committee meeting.

“The town has received notice from Deputy Mayor Hull that he will be taking a temporary leave of absence effective immediately,” said Saunderson.

Currently, the deputy mayor also sits as a County of Simcoe councillor and as a director with the Collingwood BIA.

“The deputy mayor has been an active and passionate member of our council and county council, acting on behalf of our community and our constituents,” said Saunderson. “I would ask council, staff and our community that we respect our deputy mayor’s privacy, and I know I speak for all of us when I say we all look forward to his return to the council table early in the new year.”
