Giant Tiger Collingwood is supporting a local food bank this year.

On Dec. 14, the store made a $1,750 gift card donation to the Salvation Army Food Bank.

“The holiday season is a particularly busy time of year for the food bank,” said Jennifer Hose, store manager, in a press release. “At Giant Tiger we are committed to making a difference in our communities ensuring that families in need get the support and necessities they require. We are proud of the partnership we have with our local food bank.”

The Collingwood donation is part of a $32,250 commitment made by Giant Tiger stores to food banks in various communities across Canada.

Food Bank Canada states on its website there are 850,000 people turning to food banks each month in Canada, and 13 per cent of Canadians do not have dependable access to adequate amounts of safe, nutritious food.
