A crowd of hundreds filled the museum grounds at Collingwood's cenotaph this morning for a Remembrance Day service hosted by Branch 63 Collingwood Legion.
Rob Chambers played the Last Post and Reveille on his trumpet and Sheila Stewart piped the Piper's Lament. The music played before and after a moment of silence and as the flag was raised again. Soloist Deb Fitzsimmons led the crowd in the singing of O Canada, O God Our Help in Ages Past, and God Save the King.
Rev. Dr. Brian Goodings led the service, and Lorne Kenney read In Flanders Fields.
Poppy Chair Hans Muller announced the wreath ceremony, while parade marshal Ken Templeman led those laying wreaths to the cenotaph.
Wreaths were laid by Silver Cross Lady Bev Stephenson, MP Terry Dowdall, MPP Brian Saunderson, representatives of the Canadian Armed Forces, the Military Police, Rainbow Veterans of Canada, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 63 and the Ladies Auxiliary, Mayor Keith Hull and Deputy Mayor Mariane McLeod, Clearview Township Councillor John Broderick, the local OPP, and Collingwood Fire Department.
