NEWS RELEASE
COLLINGWOOD MUSEUM
************************
The Collingwood Museum’s popular Collectors’ Night is going online!
Join museum staff from the comfort of your home on Wednesday, June 17 at 7 p.m. to share one item from your personal collection with like-minded collectors from near and far. This is a perfect opportunity for those separated by county or provincial lines to share your passion for collecting with the Collingwood community.
Do you have a collection of fossils or rocks, vintage playing cards, or animal-themed wine labels? What about a unique piece that is not necessarily part of a larger collection, but has a great story? We want to hear from you!
Interested in joining, but don’t have an item to share? As a viewer, you’ll have the ability to ask questions and join the conversation without the pressure of being on screen.
The inaugural event will be hosted on ZOOM, a user-friendly video conferencing platform that is presently being used by the Town of Collingwood for staff, committee, and council meetings.
Pre-registration is required and please note that the number of collectors sharing an item will be limited for timing purposes, but don’t worry! We are planning to offer this program on a recurring basis.
Each collector will have up to five minutes to share one item of their choosing. A schedule will be shared with participants ahead of the event.
The deadline for registration is Tuesday, June 16 at noon.
The popular Collectors’ Night event has become a staple in the Collingwood Museum’s program offerings. The traditionally onsite event celebrated the collecting efforts of a community member through a temporary exhibit and public event. Event participants were encouraged to bring an item to the museum for a community show-and-tell. Related artifacts in the museum’s permanent collection were also showcased to highlight local collecting efforts that resulted in the formation of the Collingwood Museum. The Collingwood Museum is excited to continue to offer opportunities for engagement through this new online event.
