A women's shelter serving Grey-Bruce region is extending an invitation to an upcoming tea party in support of the shelter's work and programs.

The Women's Centre Grey Bruce is hosting a fundraising tea party on Aug. 1 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Meaford Hall Arts and Cultural Centre with a goal of raising money and get to know the Meaford community.

The women's centre's executive director Heather Sheldrick, said the fundraiser works with the shelter's strategic plan to build on community partnerships.

"Planning this type of initiative will help get the word out about our programs and services to support women, children and at-risk youth," said Sheldrick in a news release.

The fundraiser will include tea with scones, sandwiches, and desserts. Tickets are $55 per person and there will also be a silent auction and 50/50 draw.

“Our afternoon tea party fundraiser embodies our commitment to community and compassion. Every cup of Passion Fruit Green Tea or Earl Grey supports our mission to be an innovative, caring leader in providing secure shelter, crisis intervention, safety planning, counselling and transition services for women, children and youth affected by abuse in Grey and Bruce Counties," said Sheldrick in the news release. "As a lifelong tea enthusiast, I’m thrilled to be a part of this event.”
