MUNICIPALITY OF GREY HIGHLANDS

The Municipality of Grey Highlands has been selected for funding through the Ministry of Transportation’s 2023-24 Connecting Links Program. The municipality will receive up to $3,000,000 of the overall project costs for reconstructing Toronto Road and Sydenham Street in Flesherton.

The Connecting Links program is a vital initiative that supports the economic growth and sustainability of communities across Ontario. The program provides up to 90 per cent of funding to a maximum of $3 million to municipalities for the repair and reconstruction of connecting link highways, which connect two ends of a provincial highway through a municipal or county road. The program aims to ensure that these roads are kept in good condition, ensuring the safety of all road users.

Grey Highlands was one of the municipalities selected for funding through the program, which is highly competitive. The selection for funding is a testament to the hard work of the municipality and its commitment to improving its infrastructure. The total project cost is estimated at $3.7 million, with the remaining costs being funded through the approved 2023 budget.

“The reconstruction of Toronto Road and Sydenham Street is a significant joint project that will provide long-term benefits to the residents of Flesherton and the surrounding area,” said Mayor Paul McQueen. “Our area has seen an increase in traffic, and this funding is a significant investment in the future of Grey Highlands.”
