The Soo Greyhounds have signed goaltender Noah Tegelaar.

The 18-year-old netminder, who has spent this season with the Ontario Junior Hockey League's Collingwood Blues, was drafted by the team in the second round of the 2023 Ontario Hockey League U18 draft.

With the Blues this season, Tegelaar had a record of 21-4-3-0 with a goals against average of 1.78 and a save percentage of 0.938 and nine shutouts.

Drafted out of the Guelph Gryphons U18 program, Tegelaar spent the 2023-24 season with the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League's Blind River Beavers, where he was named the league's rookie of the year after posting a 27-4-1-0 record, a 2.02 GAA and a 0.928 save percentage with six shutouts.

"Over the past 18 months, Noah has shown remarkable progress in his development, and his improvement since being selected in the U18 draft has been noteworthy," Greyhounds general manager Kyle Raftis said in a release.

"With his strong confidence on and off the ice, we are eager to integrate him into the team as we enter a busy period in our schedule."

Tegelaar will join the team this weekend on the road, beginning with a game Friday night in London.

With the addition, the Greyhounds also announced that goaltender Reid Thomas has been reassigned to the Orillia Terriers of the Provincial Junior Hockey League.
