Here is the final list of nominations for the Collingwood municipal election

Nominations for the upcoming municipal election have now closed and there are 24 candidates registered for the Collingwood ballot. The deadline was today at 2 p.m.

Nominations for the upcoming municipal election have now closed and there are 24 candidates registered for the Collingwood ballot.

The deadline was today at 2 p.m.

The mayor’s race is between three candidates including current deputy mayor Brian Saunderson, former OPP detachment commander John Trude and newcomer Michael Blair.

The deputy mayor’s race is between Ian Chadwick and Keith Hull. Tim Fryer was the first to put his name up for deputy mayor, but changed his nomination on deadline day to run for councillor.

There are 19 people vying for seven councillor seats and five of those are incumbent councillors.

The nominees are Stephen Aldred, Christopher Baines, Stuart Beeston, Steve Berman, Jason Booth, Nick Brindisi, Tina Comi, Shawn Cooper, George Dickenson, Deb Doherty, Cam Ecclestone, Tim Fryer, Sal Greco, Yvonne Hamlin, Kathy Jeffery, Kathleen Knoll, Bob Madigan, Mariane McLeod and Dale West.

Councillors Mike Edwards and Kevin Lloyd did not file for reelection.

There is a four-way race for English Public School Board Trustee for the Simcoe County District School Board including Hugh Caulfield of Wasaga Beach, Brian McWilliams of Clearview, Robert Potter of Collingwood and Tanya Snell of Wasaga Beach.

Peter Fracassi is the lone candidate for the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board trustee, as is Eric Lapointe for French public school board trustee and Claire Thibideau for French separate school board trustee.

Town communication coordinator Jennett Mays confirmed this is the final list of nominations filed before the deadline.
