NEWS RELEASE
ELECTHER NOW
*************************
Tickets are now on sale for the next electHER Now event as they aim to increase the number of women sitting at council tables by 10 per cent in 2026.
The Grey-Bruce-based, non-partisan community volunteer group, electHER Now, is hosting the “Hike With A Heroine” Mix and Mingle Social on Sunday, Oct. 1 from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Paisley Mill, Paisley, Ontario.
Individuals who currently hold municipal office, are interested in running and/or are supporting others who will run in 2026 are invited to join Arran-Elderslie Councillor Moiken Penner for conversation, light refreshments and a hike, stroll or just relax on the patio of the historic mill.
“There’s nothing quite like learning from others with real-life experience. That’s why this type of networking is so important to anyone who is considering running for municipal office in 2026. Supporting each other, learning together and sharing what we know is what electHER Now is all about” says Carol Merton, Owen Sound councillor and electHER Now co-founder.
The featured guest, Moiken Penner, is first term Arran-Elderslie Paisley Ward councillor. Penner is also a former police officer (1999-2009), a Lieutenant with the Canadian Armed Forces, works as an instructor with the Air Cadet Squadron in Kincardine and has been a firefighter since 2016.
The event is open to all who currently hold office, wish to run for office in the future, or are interested in supporting a candidate. Guests can chat with current and former elected officials to learn more about life at the council table.
Tickets are available on a pay-what-you-can basis with options available at $25 or $10, and $0 accessible tickets available upon request. Find more information online at: electhernow.ca/events.
