ORIGINAL STORY:

Fire crews in Ramara Township are actively battling a large structure fire at 1686 Concession Rd. A.

According to Fire Chief Tony Stong, firefighters were dispatched to the scene at 5:38 a.m. after receiving reports of a blaze. Upon arrival, crews found a one-and-a-half-storey log home fully engulfed in flames.

Stong confirmed the homeowner remains "unaccounted for at this time." There were no other occupants or pets reported to be inside the residence.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, and it is unclear whether the home was insured. The fire has resulted in a total loss, with damages estimated to be approximately $350,000.

Ramara Fire has deployed nine fire apparatus to combat the flames. Additionally, a tanker from the Brock Township Fire Department and another from Rama First Nations are assisting in the firefighting efforts.
