Keep Collingwood Clean is honouring the memory of one of its members through a $500 donation to the Collingwood Public Library's Community Food Pantry.

The donation was made in memory of Matthew Gombai, a member of Keep Collingwood Clean and a volunteer in the library's genealogy department.

"This donation is a heartfelt tribute to his kindness and lasting impact on our community," states a news release from Keep Collingwood Clean, which is a local organization of volunteers dedicated to picking up trash and running initiatives that prevent littering and promote recycling.

The food pantry at the library provides free, non-perishable food to anyone who needs it.

Keep Collingwood Clean encourages Collingwood residents, who are able, to contribute to the food pantry in person or online.

The following are some of the services available for those experiencing food insecurity:

  • The Library Café is open Monday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. with hot drinks and snacks available by donation or free.
  • Mobile Soup Kitchen and Market-Style Pantry is open Monday and Wednesday at 2:30 p.m. and Friday at 10 a.m. behind the legion in the parking lot.
