As China, Russia and the United States ramp up their space programs, the Georgian Triangle Lifelong Learning Institute (GTLLI) is aiming its telescope at the cosmos. Did you know that as early as 2023, a Canadian astronaut will fly around the moon with a NASA mission?
Come fly with GTLLI to the final frontier with Dr. Thomas Stiff, who will be featured in the next lecture series all about outer space.
Dr. Stiff, a local resident, is a science educator, author and lecturer who has held research and consulting positions for national and international organizations including the Canadian Space Agency, the National Research Council, and NASA Space Centers in Texas and Florida.
Two of the lectures will be presented by guests – Dr. Dave Williams, an astronaut, ER doctor and scientist plus Paul Delaney, a professor in physics and astronomy.
Lecture topics will range from the politics of space, to innovative technologies developed for zero gravity, to a discussion of which popular intergalactic movies actually get the science right (and which ones get it wrong).
The cost for the series is $50/household, which includes six lectures. Your pass includes live streaming on Friday mornings and watching the video later (until June 30).
