Multiple Collingwood-based environmental groups have joined together to host the second-annual Earth Day flag design contest for youth.
Youth between 13 and 19 years old are eligible to participate by submitting a creative design for a flag to celebrate Earth Day. The theme should consider intersections between the environment and society and it should inspire the community.
The contest is organized by the Collingwood Climate Action Team, the Collingwood Youth Centre, Pollinate Collingwood, The Blue Mountain Watershed Trust, Protect Our Winters Collingwood and Georgian Bay Forever.
The deadline for entries is March 10, and they can be emailed as high-resolution digital images to [email protected].
Winners will be chosen by a selection committee that will include the designer of last year's Earth Day flag, the arts and culture coordinator for the Town of Collingwood and a representative from each of the sponsor groups. The contest winner will receive $50 and their design will be printed on the flag that gets raised at the community flag pole for Earth Day. There will also be two $25 prizes for honourable mentions.
Last year's flag followed the theme "let's heal the world together," and it highlighted inclusivity.
