The Huronia West detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is proud to recognize a community member and an Ontario Provincial Police member for saving a life.
Scott Flynn and Provincial Const. Craig Hassberger, who was not on duty at the time of the incident, sprung into action when they observed a man drowning in Georgian Bay. The man, who had already gone below the surface of the water, was rescued and brought to the shoreline, where they were able to resuscitate him prior to paramedics arriving on scene.
The Huronia West operations manager, Kevin Convey, presented OPP Commissioner’s Citations for Life Saving to community member Scott Flynn and Provincial Const. Craig Hassberger for their heroic actions.
Due to their immediate response, the man survived the near-drowning incident that day. The OPP would like to commend you both on your life saving actions.
