From left, Gillian, Dave Fish and Frank McEnaney hold a small protest on Friday, June 24 through the South Georgian Bay chapter of Pivot2Peace at the federal building on Hurontario Street.

The Collingwood chapter of World Beyond War, called Pivot2Peace, will be demonstrating outside the federal building this afternoon.

The group is opposed to all wars, and regularly hosts and participates in anti-war demonstrations and actions.

The protest will take place between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Oct. 7 is the anniversary of the Hamas-led attack on Israel, during which 1,200 people were killed and another 250 were abducted. A war has waged since in Israel and Gaza.

Pivot2Peace leadership explained they are aware of today's significance, but their demonstration is in opposition to all wars, and anyone is welcome to join.

World Beyond War is a global, nonviolent movement to end war and establish a just and sustainable peace. It is a non-profit organization with chapters around the world. The Collingwood chapter was established in 2019.
