Locals celebrate Caribana with music, dancing at Carnival North

Held at The Collingwood Brewery, the festival is a celebration of Caribbean history and culture

Crowds enjoyed food, beer, dancing, and music in Collingwood this weekend in celebration of the Caribbean festival Caribana.

Dubbed Carnival North, the event was started by two local residents whose families came to Canada from Jamaica and Trinidad as a way for themselves and other Caribbeans to connect to their families, roots, and history.

The event took place Aug. 12 at The Collingwood Brewery, where the business has built an outdoor patio park for event hosting. Featuring live music, DJs, dancing, costumes, and vendors, the day-long event was family-friendly.
