The South Georgian Bay R.A.C.E. Against Drugs Planning Committee is pleased to announce that The R.A.C.E. Against Drugs is coming to the Collingwood Curling Club on Tuesday, May 15 and Wednesday, May 16, 2018.
Over 600 Grade 5 students from Clearview Township, Collingwood, The Town of Blue Mountains and Wasaga Beach will be participating in one of the four half-day events.
This drug education event utilizes the sport of auto racing to capture the attention of young people and communicate with them as they move and interact through a number of pit stops where they learn key messages about the importance of a drug and alcohol free lifestyle.
The RACE also provides the students with the opportunity to be engaged with the community partners staffing the pit stops.
An event like the R.A.C.E. Against Drugs wouldn’t be possible without the involvement of our community. A special thank you goes to the Rotary Club of Collingwood – South Georgian Bay who have generously covered the cost of bussing students to the event as well as to the G&M Hospital Foundation who have covered the other expenses involved in running this event through their Foundation’s Education Endowment Fund.
We would also like to thank The Town of Collingwood for its continued support by donating the use of the Curling Club for the event. Our deepest gratitude also goes out to the many community volunteers and local businesses who donate their time and services to make this event a success.
With all of this support, South Georgian Bay is one of the only regions in Ontario to offer this interactive event with no cost to the students.
