MPP Jim Wilson attended a public event for what appears to be the first time in nearly four months.
The Simcoe-Grey MPP posted a photo and caption on his personal Facebook page saying he attended a Lions Club anniversary meeting in Tottenham last weekend (Feb. 9/10).
“Last weekend I was pleased to congratulate the Tottenham and District Lions Club as they celebrated their 50th Charter Anniversary,” read the caption above a photo of Wilson speaking at a podium backed by Lions Club banners.
Wilson hadn’t posted to his Facebook page since Oct. 1 before the Feb. 13 post about the Lions Club meeting.
Wilson left his assignment as Minister of Economic Development, Job Creation, and Trade, and the PC Party on Nov. 2, 2018. The single official communication about it came from Simon Jeffries, a spokesperson for Premier Ford, who sent out the announcement at 6 p.m. that day.
Wilson does, however, keep his seat in the legislature, likely as an independent MPP.
Neither Wilson nor his office has made a comment on the sudden resignation, nor on the claim Jeffries made stating Wilson left to seek treatment for “addiction issues.”
Members of the PC Party, including Premier Doug Ford, indicated Wilson’s resignation was related to allegations of sexually inappropriate behaviour that stemmed from a complaint made by a male Queen’s Park staffer.
Neither Wilson nor his office has responded to requests for comment at this time.
