The Town of Collingwood is asking passengers using Collingwood Transit and The Blue Mountains link to board and exit buses via the back doors.

Cash fares will not be accepted until further notice, and passengers are not required to tap their transit passes. The town is requesting passengers not sit in the seats directly behind the bus driver.

The changes being implemented are to reduce the spread of COVID-19, and will be in place tomorrow (March 20).

The town is also asking passengers only to use the bus for essential travel and to use social distancing while using the transit system. Do not board the bus if you are experiencing symptoms such as coughing, fever, or difficulty breathing.

The changes will be in place until at least April 5.

During this time, the town is increasing sanitizing practices aboard their busses and at the public washroom at the transit station.

Transit hours of operation remain the same.

Here's more from the town's statement on transit today.

The Town continues to monitor the information released by the provincial Ministry of Health and other public health partners, including the Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit.

We encourage all transit riders to follow the recommendations of the local health service which can be found at http://www.simcoemuskokahealth.org/Promos/Novel-Coronavirus and practice habits and procedures for prevention of spread of the virus.
