Nominations are now open for this year’s Order and Companion to the Order of Collingwood.

The annual award seeks to recognize volunteerism within the community, with Orders bestowed on individuals improving social, well-being, natural or cultural environment, or recreational character of the town of Collingwood.

Nominees for the Order of Collingwood must volunteer within the town with a primary benefit of the Collingwood community and not have been paid for their participation or service.

Nominees do not need to be a Collingwood resident as long as the volunteer contributions benefit Collingwood residents and the community.

To be awarded an Order of Collingwood, the volunteer work being recognized has to be done continuously over two years or more, except for youth volunteers.

Current members of Collingwood council are not eligible for an order of Collingwood.

A Companion of the Order is presented to a volunteer who previously received an order of Collingwood and has continued to volunteer for five years or more.

Nomination forms can be picked up at the town hall office or on the town website here.

Nominations can be submitted by an individual, a business, or an organization. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Nov. 1, at 4:30 p.m.
