Noticing pink paint on the sidewalks?

It's all part of the annual repair program

If you’ve noticed pink paint on your neighbourhood sidewalks, it’s part of a plan.

According to the Town of Collingwood website, crews are currently inspecting all municipal sidewalks for hazards. The paint not only provides added warning to pedestrians, but it will let repair crews know later where to work.

The town inspects and repairs local sidewalks annually to the tune of $50,000 to $60,000. The website states crews make hundreds of repairs each year.

The sidewalk damage is caused by frost, trees, and other elements.

The repairs include removing severely damaged and heaved sidewalk and replacing with new sidewalk.

In some cases, crews will grind a sidewalk hazard instead of replacing the section.
