The controversial downtown Collingwood tree lighting is getting a re-do on Friday, Nov. 29 at 5 p.m., which coincides with the return of the outdoor Christmas market.
The first lighting immediately following the Santa Claus parade on Nov. 16 was a flop, with residents complaining about the net-like light placement and suggesting the tree was an embarrassment to the town.
Following the outcry, the Downtown Collingwood BIA kept the tree dark until the lights could be restrung.
According to a news release from the BIA, lights were donated by Canadian Tire and the Lighthouse Group took charge of the second attempt at lighting the tree.
Santa will be at the tree for the countdown Friday night.
The outdoor Christmas market runs Friday evenings from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. until Dec. 20.
