ONTARIO PROVINCIAL POLICE

The Ontario Provincial Police Central Region Headquarters in Orillia had the pleasure of hosting five special canine guests from Finding Them Homes - James Bay Pawsitive Rescue from Barrie.
On Thursday, June 16, 2022, members from Central Region hosted a special initiative to assist a local dog rescue shelter. The shelter has experienced an influx in dogs being surrendered as people are returning to work. OPP officers are always looking for ways to connect and engage with their communities, so when the opportunity to assist this wonderful shelter presented itself, they were thrilled to help.
These dogs are awaiting their forever homes, while they live in foster care. Every dog that entered the building had a special personality that put smiles on everyone's faces and made it obvious that they adore people and have so much love to give. Officers were honoured that Finding Them Homes brought these amazing dogs to visit and that they got to spend time with each dog individually.
Let's meet these incredible dogs.
Violeta
Violeta is a gorgeous one-year-old Shepherd mix. She is 40 pounds of happy puppy. While Violeta was visiting with PC Roach she showed an interest in being a Future School Resource Officer. Violeta knows that school is where you learn and because she is super-smart, she would do well and learn things quickly. Violeta also heard that school is fun, and she sure loves to have fun!
Violeta brought a smile to everyone's face that she met. Everyone was drawn to her pretty face, and she gave love and cuddles in return.
Heinz
Heinz is a handsome and loving one-year-old Husky mix. He is 70 pounds of love and kisses. While Heinz was at Central Region Headquarters, he met Detective Sergeant Tremble and decided that he wants to be a detective as well. Heinz was a little confused as he thought it was as a "food detective" but was excited when he learned that he would be helping people.
Heinz was a loving, gentle boy and quietly curious about meeting everyone.
Kraken
Kraken is a stunning and ruggedly handsome two-year-old husky mix. He is 45 pounds of affection. Kraken told Sgt. Fedde that his passion is Search and Rescue. When asked why, Kraken said that he is searching for his forever family and even though he is the rescue, his family will be the ones who are truly rescued.
Kraken stole hearts with how affectionate he was and how quickly he settled down and was happy to just hang out.
Mahoney
Wow was the first word out of everyone's mouth who met Mahoney. Mahoney is a magnificent boy in appearance and personality. He is a six-year-old Husky mix and 81 pounds of astonishing good looks and behaviour. When Mahoney met Inspector Lowe and was learning about policing, he decided that he wanted to be a member of the Tactical Response Unit (TRU). When Inspector Lowe asked Mahoney why, he said that it was because TRU officers rescue people like he was rescued, and he wants to pay it forward.
Mahoney gave kisses to everyone he met. He really is a sweet, gentle boy and his blue eyes are sure to melt your heart.
Boady
Boady is a charming and handsome seven-year-old Husky mix. He is 58 pounds of relaxed happiness. Don't be fooled by Boady's age. Huskies are forever puppies and Boady is no exception. He is silly and playful, but also very laid-back and well behaved. Because Boady was the leader of the pack, he got to spend time with our Central Region leader, Chief Superintendent Peer.
Boady and Chief Peer enjoyed each other's company and while visiting, Boady decided that he wanted to be a Traffic Unit officer. When asked why, Boady simply stated that it is because he loves car rides. Boady will add joy to any home and all of us that met him fell immediately in love.
We truly believe that any one of these dogs would complete a family and bring so much joy to your home. Please do your research into breeds that are compatible with your lifestyle and make absolutely certain you are ready for the commitment adopting one of these dogs requires.
